Why I’m starting this practice

My name is Rachel Dickerson, MD. I am a primary care physician, trained and board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics.

Under Wing Direct Primary Care is the culmination of my 14 years in clinical practice. While employed by large hospital and corporate health systems, I could never play to my strengths.

Patients appreciated my thoroughness and the time I took to hear their concerns, but I never became a “15-minute doc.” I knew that patients and I deserved better.

Direct Primary Care offers the time and access to grow a relationship with your doctor that fee-for-service and insurance-based practices cannot. DPC produces happier patients and doctors alike, and I believe it’s the best model for us all.

I have been very fortunate to spend the last four years with sproutMD Direct Primary Care, and I am now ready to spread my wings to build my own DPC practice a little closer to my home.

Membership Details

Your membership includes:

  • All primary care services at Under Wing DPC,

  • Standard 1 hour appointments,

  • No extra appointment fees or co-pays,

  • Access to your physician by multiple means including patient portal, email, and my direct phone line for urgent needs after hours.

If you have insurance, it will cover referrals for specialists, prescriptions, labs, imaging, etc. as usual.

Monthly fees:

  • Adult 27+ individual rate:
    $150/month

  • Young adult 18-26 individual rate:
    $100/month

  • Child 0-17 individual rate:
    $80/month

There is also a one-time enrollment fee of $100 per individual, with a maximum of $200 per household.

Discounts:

$20 off the monthly rate for each person when two or more household members enroll and at least one is an adult 27 years or older.

Rachel Dickerson, MD Bio and Credentials

I was born and raised in Hillboro, Missouri. After high school, I moved away to pursue my education. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology from Rice University (where I met my husband), and then my medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch. 

I followed medical school with a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. In 2012, I became double board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and moved back home.

I then spent 14 years providing primary care to families in the St. Louis area, at first in large, corporate hospital systems. Knowing I needed a change, I joined sproutMD Direct Primary Care in Kirkwood, Missouri, four years ago. With fantastic partners Dr. Andrea Otto and Dr. Clarissa Allen, I saw firsthand the benefits of DPC for doctors and patients alike.

Now well-prepared to open my own practice closer to home, I start Under Wing DPC as the doctor corporate medicine never wanted me to be: one who spends too much time with patients, asks too many questions, and has standards too high. My patients and I deserve nothing less.
